January Update

Happy New Year!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed a joy and peace filled time over Christmas.

We’ve had such a wonderful time over the past few weeks, and I am so grateful to so many of you who have given so much of yourselves to enable PMCH to shine. The prayer of so many of us is that Jesus, the light of the world, may have been seen amidst the tinsel. In fact, I continually hear stories of people who see the light of Jesus in the people who are part of our community. The Apostle Paul says that we should ‘Shine as lights in the world’ (Phil 2:15) and I love how we see so much evidence of that in each other.

Paul goes on to explain that the source of our light is Jesus, and we shine as we ‘hold on to Him’. As we enter another year can I urge you to do all you can to hold on to Him as tightly as you can. You may feel that you are out of strength but please remember that a lady in the Bible was able to experience the power of Jesus by simply touching the edge of His cloak (Luke 8:44). You may not be able to muster up the strength of a firm grip but still reach out.

Things should be quieter in the first week or so of the New Year as we devote ourselves to prayer for the year ahead. Our prayer chapel will be open each day for a week from Jan 5th and aids to prayer will be available. I invite you to join with us in seeking Jesus for the year ahead and trust that you can experience his power as we reach out to him.

As Luke records: ‘Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me” (Luke 8:46).

May we each know His power in the year ahead.

Every Blessing

Jonny

What’s coming up in January

New Year Week of Prayer

2025 is going to be a significant year for PMCH – not least because we are looking for a new Superintendent Minister to join us. We want to begin this year in prayer, humbly approaching our gracious and loving God and laying ourselves open to living more closely to the calling of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Leadership Team is inviting all groups and meetings to delay rushing into the New Year’s activities and to spend time in prayer during the week beginning 05 January 2025. You may pray together in place of your meeting or activity, wherever you would normally meet, or choose to meet in the Prayer Chapel or Prayer Room instead. (If you want to use either room, please let the office know so that there are no clashes, or that you are happy to join another group who might be praying there.) The Prayer Chapel will be open for prayer during PMCH office hours (9am to 4pm) and there will be resources for you to use to guide you in your praying. If you are going to be away that week or would rather pray on your own at home, there will be some themes and guidance available HERE, so that there is a sense that we are in this together, focusing on Jesus and calling on the Holy Spirit for wisdom and equipping for the future. Please put these dates in your diary now.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
