August Update

Dear wonderful PMCH family,

As we enter August, I find myself feeling a mix of sadness and gratitude as we conclude our journey through the life of Joseph. I’ve really enjoyed this series in our morning services. Week after week, we've seen how God's faithful hand was at work even in the darkest chapters of Joseph's story. It's been so moving to witness how his experiences have spoken into our own lives and circumstances as a church family.

Our final sermon in this series will focus on Genesis 50:20—those remarkable words where Joseph declares that what others meant for harm, God meant for good. What hope that brings us! In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, we're reminded that our God is sovereign, working all things together for His purposes and for our ultimate good.

As we move through August, you'll notice that various activities and ministries will slow down a little. This is very much intentional, giving our wonderful staff and all those who serve so faithfully in the life of our church some much-needed downtime. It's been such a privilege to watch so many of you pour yourselves out in service, embodying Paul's encouragement in 1 Corinthians 15:58 to be "steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord." As Paul reminds us, “our labour in the Lord is never in vain”. At our evening service on July 20th, Kevin Hooke so helpfully reminded us of this.

I hope that August will give many of us a chance to rest and be refreshed. I’ll be in Canada visiting family for a couple of weeks and whilst I can’t guarantee resting, I am looking forward to being refreshed. Whether you're taking a holiday or finding moments of quiet in the everyday, may this month bring you the refreshment you need. And may we look forward to September with renewed energy and excitement for whatever God has in store for us next.

I'm so grateful for each of you—for your support, your love, and your faithfulness. PMCH wouldn’t be the same without you.

With love

Jonny

What’s coming up in August

Summer 2025 at PMCH

Over the Summer a lot of our weekday groups take a break so please keep an eye out for communications about when groups break up and return in September.

We also pause our livestream for the month of August. This Sunday (03 August) Jonny has recorded the last session on Joseph and this will be available to watch at 11am on Youtube.

PMCH Livestream

Since the lockdown, we've been successfully live-streaming our morning services, allowing us to connect with individuals worldwide. Our YouTube channel has enabled our congregation to participate in worship, even when they can't be physically present at church. As we embark on a new year at PMCH, we're excited to announce a fresh start this September with a new livestream channel. If you usually access the livestream through our website, you won’t notice any changes on Sunday mornings. However, if you have bookmarked our current channel, please update it before September. We’ll be uploading the final sermon series on Joseph to the new channel, and our old channel will now be designated as PMCH Archive. All live and new recordings will be available on the new Plymouth Methodist Central Hall channel and the link will be sent out in the next Monthly Message.
