April Update

Dear friends,

In the midst of all that this season holds, both at home and in church, I’ve found myself again feeling that pull to look ahead, to get to Easter Sunday and to the joy and celebration that we know is coming. It’s Wednesday of Holy Week (if you are reading this on the day the email hit your inbox) and you may like me feel the pull of Holy Week as being something to move through rather than something to dwell within.

This week invites us to slow down.

There is, of course, hope woven through every part of the Easter story. We know the empty tomb awaits. But can I encourage you resist the urge to rush there too quickly, and instead allow yourself to sit in the tension, the sorrow and the wonder of what unfolds.

My prayer for each of us is that in these days we might encounter Jesus once again or maybe for the first time. That the truths we’ve explored in Ephesians over the past couple of months would move from our heads to hearts, and that we would be shaped again by the story at the centre of our faith.

As Paul reminds us in one of his other letters:
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

With blessing

Jonny
