September Update
Dear lovely PMCH people
I hope you're having a wonderful summer and have found some opportunity to rest. It’s now September and PMCH is looking forward to all that God has in store for us as we begin a new season together.
One of the real highlights will be the welcome service for our new Superintendent Minister, Rev Jonathan Haigh, at 11am on Sunday 6th September. This will be a special occasion in the life of our church as we officially welcome Jonathan into his new ministry among us. I would encourage everyone to come and be part of this joyful morning of worship and celebration. If you can’t come, please join un online.
Then, at our 7pm evening service, both Jonathan and Chris will be sharing their faith stories. It will be a wonderful opportunity to get to know them more personally and to hear something of God's calling and faithfulness in their lives.
As you read this, Jonathan and Chris will likely be unpacking their stuff, with Jonathan already pinning Sheffield United posters to his office wall! As a church family, let's be intentional in helping Jonathan and Chris feel at home in Plymouth as quickly as possible. A friendly conversation, an invitation for a meal, a warm smile, or simply taking the time to introduce yourself can make a tremendous difference as they settle into a new city.
The following Sunday, 13th September, we'll begin our new preaching series: What It Means to Be Church: Being Church – Eleven Values for Following Jesus Together. Over eleven weeks we'll explore the values that shape a growing and vibrant church: values such as being Christ-centred, biblical, prayerful, Spirit-filled, loving, generous, united, gifted, missional, faithful, and sent. My prayer is that this series will not only strengthen us as a church but also encourage each of us to grow more deeply as disciples of Jesus in our everyday lives.
The words of Jesus overarches each of these values as he says, ‘Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself.’ How about we resolve together in this new season to take this command seriously.
With blessing
Jonny

“Could your relationship be on autopilot? It doesn’t have to stay that way! Drifting apart is one of the biggest reasons why many couples decide to call it quits. But there are simple ways to prioritise each other and stop just going through the motions. Going the Distance is a live event from Care for the Family, which offers a rare chance to stop, take stock and invest in your relationship. You’ll explore practical ideas of how to communicate well, deepen connection with each other and intentionally set the course for your relationship. This event will help you spot warning signs, avoid roadblocks and continue your journey together, for a vibrant and lasting marriage.”
