November Update

Dear Friends

As we move into November, we continue our journey through this autumn’s preaching series on Calling. Each week we’ve been discovering how God calls ordinary people in different ways, for different purposes, yet always for His glory.

This month, we’ll be reflecting on some remarkable moments of calling — moments that invite us to consider how God might be speaking to us today. We’ll begin with the extravagant devotion of a woman who loved much because she was forgiven much (Luke 7:36–50). Then, on Remembrance Sunday, we’ll reflect on the call to stand in the gap through the story of the Roman centurion (Luke 7:1–10) — a man marked by compassion and faith.

We’re delighted to welcome Rev. Alastair Bolt as our preacher that morning. Alastair served as an Army Chaplain for ten years, and his experience will bring a special depth to this service, as we remember those who have served and sacrificed, and as we consider what it means for us to live with courage, compassion, and faith in our own time.

Later in the month, we’ll meet Elizabeth, called to hope and faith in her waiting (Luke 1:5–25); Paul, whose life was utterly transformed when called to serve Christ (Acts 9:1–19); and John the Baptist, called to prepare the way for the Lord (Mark 1:1–8).

Each of these stories reminds us that God’s call comes in many forms — through devotion, compassion, hope, transformation, and service. My prayer is that as we listen to their stories, we might also listen for the whispers of God’s call in our own lives. What might He be saying to you? How might He be calling us — as individuals and as a church — in this season, to prepare the way for Christ today?

Romania Team Update

In the early hours of 6th October the team headed off on their journey to Sacele,  Romania and the start of a very busy and hard working week. Much was achieved by the team including laying wood flooring and skirting in Mission House Zizin, and sealing two bathroom floors. Plastering and insulating a new boiler house in Tarlengenni  ready for Winter. Children's work included daily story telling of Joseph and associated craft work, feeding up to 60 children each day. The team also wrapped 4 months worth of birthday presents for children who otherwise would have none. All this achieved by 11 people aged from 18yrs to 70+. Thank you for your prayers and donations. We will be presenting a full update in a session at the next Pick & Mix service. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness and generous love to ALL mankind.

Prayer Meeting | Wednesday 05 November 7:30pm | PMCH

We are just entering the period when the Methodist Church nationally oversees the appointment of those ministers on the move to churches that have a vacancy.

For us at PMCH this is a critical time as we are into our second year with no Superintendent minister to lead and guide us as a church. It is no criticism of our amazing Leadership and Staff teams to say that we now need someone who will take up the vision and gifts that we need just now.

Your prayers are really important at this time and especially we need to be seeking God together.  So, thank you to those who are already praying in small groups, home groups and midweek meetings.  But this month in particular we are inviting as many as are able to join us at the Wednesday evening prayer meeting.  Please come and demonstrate our unity in prayer before our Lord and Saviour.

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray – then…” 2 Chronicles 7.14
