PMCH Gift Day 2026

Dear friends,

As we approach our Church's 86th Anniversary on Sunday 10th May, we do so with grateful hearts, giving thanks for all that God is doing among us at Plymouth Central Hall.

This past year has been one of reliance on God's faithfulness and a sense of growing momentum. We've seen new people find a home here, deeper relationships forming, and continued opportunities to serve our city. There is so much to celebrate and even more to look forward to.

At moments like this, it's right that we pause, give thanks, and also consider how each of us plays our part in the life and future of our church.

Each year, as part of our Church Anniversary, we invite you and everyone who calls PMCH 'home' to consider making a special one-off financial gift as an expression of our worship and celebration.

We are so thankful for those who already give regularly and sacrificially. Your generosity sustains the ministry and mission of PMCH in ways that are often unseen but deeply significant.

This Gift Day is an invitation to pray, to reflect, and to respond as you feel led.

Stand (or sit) with us this Year!

Within our appeal this year we are reaching out in faith to raise £25,000 as we come together as one church in the city, for the city.

The money given as part of this appeal will be put towards our two most pressing needs at the moment; Permanent Heating and New Chairs for our Main Hall. More details below.

Our focus this year

This year we want to be more specific about two of the various needs before us.

A Warm Welcome

We are sure that if you have been in the building you will know that our main heating system failed last year. After a rather chilly winter we are now ready to install a new solution. This will cost in excess of £90,000.

A warm welcome will be guaranteed this winter - spiritually and physically!

Major grant support is being sought for this project, but we know that some of you feel passionate about giving specifically for this project.

A Safe Seat

Many of you will also be aware that the chairs in the Main Hall are now reaching the end of their life. They are around 26 years old, and although they have served us incredibly well, we are now seeing regular breakages. They came with a 20-year life expectancy!
As our church grows we continually want to see every seat filled in worship. At the same time, the Main Hall continues to be one of our most used and most important spaces - for worship, community events, outreach activities, and external bookings that help support the wider ministry of the church. Replacing the chairs is therefore not simply about comfort or appearance - it's about safety and hospitality.

Who could you save a seat for?

The simplest and easiest response is this! Take a seat for a moment and pray… 'how many chairs could I help buy for those I would love to see sat in Church?'

Each new chair (including connectors and specialist fabric protection to extend their lifespan) will cost approximately £100. We hope to be in a position to buy 250 new chairs.

So please do genuinely consider if you could give one chair, five chairs, or even a whole row!
Whilst some will be able to fund several, others may be able to contribute to part of a chair - every gift matters and will contribute towards the whole.

Donating through Gift Aid means that we as a charity can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It will not cost you any extra!

If you are a UK Taxpayer, please complete the Gift Aid declaration to ensure the value of your gift is maximised.

So, as we approach Gift Day, we simply ask that you take time to pray and consider how you can stand with us in this.
Thank you for all the ways you are part of this church, through your presence, your prayers, your service, and your generosity.

We look ahead with hope, trusting that God is not finished with us yet.

With every blessing,
Jonny
