Gareth has been employed as a Mission Lecturer at Moorlands College. Please pray for the whole family as they start their new life in Dorset. On Sunday 18th August our morning service will follow some of the pattern that we have been using there. There will be praise and worship, as well as time for stillness and waiting on God. The meeting: voted in favour of the District amalgamation with Cornwall & Isles of Scilly received an update on church finances, noting that many income streams had risen, but also had some expenditure In the light of the discussion on finances raised the commercial parking fees and created one additional commercial parking space Gave notice of a rise to church members for parking space decided to sell the premises at Keyham approved Maria Mills to be fully recognised as a Local Preacher approved many new members and welcomed the re-instatement to membership of two people approved additional tithed gifts discussed and approved a re-design of the welcome area in a phased project and committed itself to a prominent cross at the heart of the design gave permission for grants to be sought from funding that may have originated from the National Lottery approved the creation of volunteer, unpaid internships within the family work of the church and much more… GCM - 9th June 12:30pm Our general church meeting - a chance to celebrate the work of the church and discuss our future plans - will be held on Sunday 9th June. All are welcome. At this meeting we appoint members of the Church Leadership Team and new representatives to the Church Council for the coming year. Nigel Morris (Foodbank Hub), Julie Morris (Youth & Children) & Paul Courtney (Worship & Prayer) will stand again for a further three year and final term. John Stephens (Faith in Action) and Gill Rolfe (Fellowship) are not standing for another term. We have been in conversation with folks in the life of the church to invite them to stand in vacant areas. If nominated, they require a majority vote of the General Church meeting to be elected or to continue in their post. There are between six and fifteen spaces for people wanting to serve as church representatives to the Church Council/Circuit Meeting. Led by Gareth and initially meeting at church, the focus will be on teaching & discussion, as well as application to daily life and learning skills for ministry and service in the church. We offer thanksgiving services, very similar to ‘Christenings’, where we invite parents and godparents/supporters to thank God for the gift of a new child and make commitments to caring for and nurturing this child. These take place during our morning services at 11am on Sundays. We believe baptism is most appropriate for those who have come to believe in Jesus for themselves and made a conscious choice to follow Him in everyday life. outreach project of PMCH where we share our faith in a practical and financial way. FAST, a social enterprise charity based near Brasov in the Transylvanian hills of northern Romania, aims to help marginalised children and families through educational, vocational and community development projects, Our involvement started in 2007 and to date over 60 church members and close relatives have travelled to Romania in support of the work out there. Each year a team consisting of mixed ages and experience, work with the locals to share some of their hopes and dreams. Nigel Morris leads a team who undertake a variety of building projects working alongside Roma people to promote self-help and work ownership. Another team led by Helena Mitchell, focusses on children’s work on the Roma village providing education and social care. PMCH is part of this set up which is a collective of local churches, businesses, organisations and the Shekinah Mission. The Soup Run team works closely with Plymouth Access to Housing (PATH), referring vulnerable people as necessary to the Rough Sleepers Team, Community Connections Team or signposting to other city services to help with any medical, health, financial, accommodation or employment support need. There were 36 students in 24/25 which has now risen to 51. Their living conditions are basic, the courses are challenging not least because most text books are in English but they are so joyful and faithful. The areas where they help to pastor Churches in their breaks and after they leave are poor and always potentially subject to economic, political and religious opposition. Two church members enjoyed time with them teaching English in formal lessons and less formally as part of a hectic community life. Around 150 students participated in the program, along with nearly 80 widows who gathered with us.
